The LS Teacher will collaborate closely with the Head of Primary, Head of Secondary, and Home Room teachers to create and implement support plans for students facing challenges in accessing the curriculum. These challenges may include learning disabilities such as dyslexia or dyscalculia, or other factors like educational transitions or family mobility. This role primarily aims to provide students with tailored learning strategies to help them meet specific academic targets. The LS teacher will maintain clear communication with school leadership, parents, and other teachers to ensure that each student's needs are met. They will also suggest teaching strategies and resources to help both teachers and students. The Learning Support Teacher will be part of the Student Support Team, working alongside the EAL Coordinator, Heads of Primary and Secondary. They will provide various modes of support including one-on-one, small group, and in-class support. Additionally, the LS teacher will conduct assessments and report on student progress through written reports for parents and teachers every fortnight. The successful candidate will be provided with a dedicated office space called the Rainbow Learning Room, equipped with a laptop and necessary resources. This role includes teaching library, research, and literacy skills to individual students, small groups, and entire classes, spanning the age range of the Primary School. The librarian will also create and maintain a dynamic learning environment that fosters a love of reading and intellectual curiosity. In this position, the librarian will deliver 45-minute library sessions, totaling 18 hours of contact teaching each week. They will collaborate with homeroom teachers to teach research skills, critical thinking, and literacy, integrating these skills into the school curriculum. The librarian will also manage library resources, including books and digital tools, and help students become effective and ethical users of information. The Primary School Librarian will lead the creation of a whole-school information literacy plan, working alongside teachers to integrate these skills across subjects. They will also curate book lists to encourage broader reading and study skills. Additionally, the librarian will organize special events like author visits and competitions to further promote literacy and reading enjoyment.
