Filipino Teachers: Wise Up and Rise Up Now!
I'm an Filipino math teacher work at Thai billingual school for more than 3 years.
I notice Western teachers often gossip and laugh about us.
Although it hurts I understand cultural difference and why they behave like this.
In our culture, we believe to do job good and follow boss or manager's orders even if it means do extra hours or small tasks without hesitation.
But, I worry most about my fellow countrymen who take teaching jobs in Thailand for much less than they deserved right.
It's ridiculous and unfair to those of us have been in the field for years and earning a decent wage. Some even agree to wage as low 15,000 Baht, which is not okay.
I beg my fellow Filipinos to have self-respect and proud of themselves.
Let's not accept slave wages and ruin it for other hard-working Filipinos.
Thai employer take advantage of our desperation but we shouldn't let them, let's work together to uplift ourselves and our fellow countrymen.
I assure you you can ask for more because western teachers can not teach subjects western teacher can teach English only.
Accept only a wage of 30,000 Baht or more please and be proud!
